Here is a link to an article that I found to be very interesting. Most people call for price cielings with commodities like gasoline, but here is a different perspective. Take a look and respond to this post on my site with comments. What did you think was intersting about the idea? DO you agree or disagree? Why? HOW WOULD OUR ECONOMY BE EFFECTED BY A NCAA FOOTBALL PLAYOFF SYSTEM?Posted by aeubanks in UncategorizedWhat are we waiting for? Too many teams are going undefeated without a chance at the National Championship? So why are the powers that be hesitant about a playoff scenario? I want some answers that deal with the economic impact of the current bowl format. What are the pros and cons of leaving the current system? Is it a money issue? Or do you think that there is more money to be made with playoffs? I report and you decide. SSEF5 The student will describe the roles of government in a market economy. From your investigations tell how the governments responsibility for individual interests affected our economy through the regulation of the railroads. Be sure to mention: -How the government regulation effects private property rights for businesses and individuals? -What legislation was passed to resolve market failures? -What public goods and services effected the railroad industry? September 11, 2001 will be a memory that the people of our generation carry forever. I remember exactly where I was on that terrible morning. At the age of 17, I was sitting against the wall of Mr. Harrison’s US History class at Colquitt County High School. The room was on the second floor, and the time was around 8:30 or 8:45 in the morning. Mr. Harrison was guiding us through one of his lectures on colonial US when, without a knock on the door, Mrs. Kruger busted in. “Quick, turn turn the TV on channel 10″, she cried. ” A plane slammed into the World Trade Center”. Mr. Harrison jumped up and preceded to the front right corner of the room where the TV was mounted on the wall. We watched as the news anchor tried to decipher the situation. They kept juggling ideas like accidental collision, hijacking, engine failure. As i sat watching in horror as the first tower burned, I saw a second plane dart into the screen and explode through the second tower. My class thought it was a replay of the first plane. Come to find out, two planes had crashed into the towers. From that point in history, we knew it was not an accident, it was an act of war. Since then, our country has had a paranoia of foreign and domestic terrorism. People are skeptical of who is around them, and scared of what they might be planning. 9/11 will be forever known as a turning point in our nations history. I want to know your personal story about that day. Post a recap of your 9/11 experience so that we can make some connections about what we saw, felt, remember.

Presidential Address: How will you do your part for America?Posted by aeubanks in Uncategorized
At twelve o’clock Tuesday, President Barack Obama gave a speech directed at the school children of America. He called for action and responsibility on the part of the student to achieve for their self, their family, and their country. One of the main goals of the speech was to reiterate the importance of making a high school education the priority of every student in the nation. Watch the video and read the script of the speech provided in the links below. CLASSROOM COMPENSATION (EXTRA CREDIT) Provide a response to the speech of at least 10 sentences. Provide a comment on two or more of your classmates responses concurring or refuting their point of view Some prompts for response could include, but are not restricted to the following questions: -Is the speech going to be a boost in morale among underachieving students? -How will partisan politicians on the LEFT and RIGHT view the speech? -Should school systems make the viewing mandatory? If so, what legal roadblocks might the schools encounter? -Is it our civic duty to watch presidential addresses? If so, why is it important to pay attention to what our President says? -How will the media (CNN, FOX News, ABC, MSNBC, etc..) manipulate the intended motives of the President’s speech? Will the manipulation be positive, negative? What is the agenda of media outlets to paint a certain picture with political speeches/events? -Does the President’s speech help promote the idea that education is relevant for every career choice? Why/Why not? LINKS create an ammendment that changes the qualification for president to better suit our needs in that office. Also, provide sound reasoning for these changes. |
